New Bridge To Benefit Women, Children Of Nawamagi

The new foot crossing access bridge will mostly benefit the women and children of Nawamagi in Nadroga-Navosa.

This was a sentiment made by acon Wednesday after the commissioning of their foot crossing bridge by the Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, Inia Seruiratu.

“It was a special day for the villagers of Nawamagi for the commissioning of the new bridge,” he said.

“This access foot crossing bridge is opposite the Conua District School and there are eleven households on the other side of the creek.”

He said previously, it was difficult for them to cross over when the creek became flooded.

“We were not able to go anywhere, especially the students and also for us to travel anywhere or when we went to our village in Nawamagi,” he said.

“This would benefit our women who mostly go out fishing to support their families as well as the children going to school. We are happy with our new foot crossing bridge.

“We are thankful to the Prime Minister and the Government for this foot crossing access,” he added.

During the commissioning, the minister said it is part of the Government’s commitment to provide for the best of education to the children and most importantly supporting rural development initiatives.
