New Classrooms For Nausori Special School
The Government of Japan granted $167,880 to Nausori Special School for the construction of a three-classroom block.

The Government of Japan granted $167,880 to Nausori Special School for the construction of a three-classroom block.
The assistance is under Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) Programme.
The handover ceremony was held at Nausori Special School yesterday.

First Secretary, Embassy of Japan, Genta Yamada said: “We can expect improved results from them because teachers can focus more on each student.
“I hope the wait listed students who are currently attending mainstream schools despite their needs will be accommodated by this school.”
Mr Yamada said the school had another classroom for teaching pre-vocational skills, and now there would be space for students who wished to undergo further training to graduate.
“It is my hope that your students will be able to gain the needed knowledge and skills to pursue a career and contribute to society, just like the graduates of mainstream schools,” he said.
“This project is in line with Fiji’s national development objectives which is key to Japan’s development objectives which is key to Japan’s development cooperation with this country.”
Since 1990, Japan has been providing continued assistance to grassroots communities in Fiji through implementing 372 GGP projects, with the value exceeding $53.08million.
School Manager for Nausori Special School, Jitendra Bhan said: “The Embassy of Japan came to our rescue an accepted our request for a grant to build these three classrooms. Our pre-vocational students are very conformable in their new classrooms.
“Two of our students have been chosen to participate in Para Olympic games for students with disabilities in Abu Dhabi in Dubai in March this year,” said Mr Bhan.
