“From our pristine coasts and islands to our cultural heritage and farming landscapes, the North has many authentic experiences to offer visitors,” Ms Simmons said.
The association will serve as a platform for tourism operators, local businesses, community groups and development partners to collaborate.
Its focus will include strengthening tourism services, promoting eco-tourism, and supporting sustainable economic opportunities for local communities.
Ms Simmons said the association planned to work closely with government agencies, tourism bodies, the Na Vualiku Ministry of Tourism, World Bank initiatives and private partners.
“The goal is to make Macuata a recognized destination for domestic and international visitors,” she said.
She added that the association aimed to ensure tourism development benefited people in the province.
“By working together, we can promote our region, support small operators, and build a stronger tourism industry that creates jobs and supports local livelihoods,” she said.
The Macuata Tourism Association has invited tourism operators and stakeholders across the province to join and help shape the future of tourism in the region.
