Students, teachers and residents can start and end their day safely.
Approximately 500 students attending Montfort Boys Town in Savusavu will now be able to start and end their school day more safely with a new bus bay outside the school.
The school is located on the Transinsular Road, approximately six kilometres away from Savusavu Town.

Fulton Hogan Highways (FHH), working under the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) to improve road access across the Central, Eastern and Northern divisions, was contracted to complete the project.
FHH operations manager North, Solomone Nabete, said the work included the installlation of a 900-diametre culvert that was backfilled to provide a decent space for buses and taxis to stop.
“Students and parents will be safer because they will be able to wait in a safe area and not worry about the oncoming vehicles,” Mr Nabete said.
“With the previous bus stop right next to a bridge that only has one lane in operation due to a hole in the deck, this has narrowed the road and careless drivers pose a risk to the students, teachers and parents that must wait by the road.”
The length of the new bus bay will be 20 metres long and three metres wide.
