The Ministry of Health and Medical Services has widened the definition of high-risk businesses.

These include hairdressers, barber shops, spa, tattoo and beauty salons, massage parlours and saunas .

These are an extension from the previously closed gyms, cinemas, video game shops, cyber cafes, taverns, bars, billiard shops and amusement arcades.

Permanent Secretary for Health and Medical Services Dr James Fong said the nature of these businesses meant they cannot operate with proper COVID-safe protocols, including enforced physical distancing of two-metres.

Such businesses in this field all over Viti Levu have been directed to close for the next 14 days.

Furthermore, the suspension of international passenger travel took effect from midnight last night, with the exception of Fijians travelling for medical purposes and other passengers as approved by Dr Fong.
