The installation of twenty-eight new pay-and-display electronic parking meters in Nadi Town is projected to boost council revenue by up to 300 percent, said Nadi Sigatoka Special Administrator Chair Lawrence Kumar.

This expansion builds upon the success of the ten existing metres (2010 models) installed in 2020 as part of a pilot project.

“The introduction of these metres aims to strengthen the council’s revenue base, eliminate revenue leakages associated with the previous “lolli-pop” metres, and prevent vandalism,” Mr Kumar said.

“From this parking metre collection, we are looking at 200 to 300 per cent of revenue. It will be used to enhance services for the people of Nadi and support additional worthwhile projects.”
