The new head prefects of Suva Grammar School are ready to lead more than 1000 students.

The school badged 122 prefects including class prefects, school prefects, deputies and school heads on Friday.

“My motivation is my mum. She was the head girl of a school in Kadavu during her time,” he said.

“My father passed away in 2010, I wish he was here,” she said.

“My inspiration is my mother. Losing a dad was hard, but we got through it and even though I have a stepdad, she always pushed me.”

The 18-year-old is the first in her family to be a school’s head girl.

“It is exciting, it’s also a surprise being a head girl among all the girls here, I got to be chosen,” Zoe said.

“I am very lucky and I want to thank the Almighty for who I am.”

Zoe said she was hoping to instill discipline in students.

The theme of the school this year is ‘Year of discipline’

“People don’t really look up to me so being a leader, I will change the social group I am in; they will accept me for who I am and the decisions I make,” Zoe said.

“They will understand that what I achieved today (April 29) was from my hard work.”
