New Trial Date Set For Manslaughter, Robbery Accused

The trial of Josaia Vukivuki, who is charged with one count of manslaughter and one count of robbery, will take place at the High Court in Lautoka from June 26-30.

Vukivuki is alleged to have assaulted the late Hashneel Sharma on January 19, 2020, resulting in his death. Mr Shrama's body was discovered at the back of the old Mobil Service Station in Natokawaqa, Lautoka.

The matter was heard before Justice Riyaz Hamza.

Vukivuki was represented by Legal Aid Commission Lawyer Karen Boseiwaqa on the instruction of counsel in carriage Kelly Vulimainadave while Rukalesi Uce appeared for prosecution.

Justice Hamza said the trial could not proceed in the week of June 19 due to the judges' workshop and the ODPP conference therefore new trial dates would be set. Justice Hamza adjourned the matter to June 19 for the pretrial conference hearing and extended bail for Vukivuki.
