New Zealand Army Sharpens Humanitarian Skills In Fiji

The Royal New Zealand Air­force’s Rotary Task Wing Unit, led by Flight Lieuten­ant Nichole Brooke, conducted training sessions as part of the landing craft, mechanised (LCM) operations this week.

The training involved beach land­ings, flying passengers onto the HMNZS Canterbury anchored in the bay just off Nadi, and ship op­erations training for pilots and loadmasters conducting landings on the ship, winching personnel, and taking loads on and off as part of preparation for humanitarian relief work in the Pacific.

The unit is part of the larger task group called Mahitahi which has about 95 personnel looking after the flying operation.
