The Royal New Zealand Airforce’s Rotary Task Wing Unit, led by Flight Lieutenant Nichole Brooke, conducted training sessions as part of the landing craft, mechanised (LCM) operations this week.
The training involved beach landings, flying passengers onto the HMNZS Canterbury anchored in the bay just off Nadi, and ship operations training for pilots and loadmasters conducting landings on the ship, winching personnel, and taking loads on and off as part of preparation for humanitarian relief work in the Pacific.
The unit is part of the larger task group called Mahitahi which has about 95 personnel looking after the flying operation.
