New Zealand Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Winston Peters arrives in Fiji next week for a short visit.

He is expected to meet local media next Wednesday, however, details of his stay have not been released yet.

Earlier this month, New Zealand High Commissioner, Jonathan Curr said Mr Peters’ visit was only the start to a busy year because they anticipated that the two countries would work together to further deepen their relationship.

Mr Curr hinted of another high- level visit and it is understood that New Zealand Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is likely to visit Fiji later this year.

The two nations enjoy strong political and economic relations with New Zealand being Fiji’s second- largest source of tourists.

Fiji is New Zealand’s biggest trading partner in the region, with two way trade worth $1billion.
