Newborn Found in Tertiary Hostel Washroom, Investigations Underway

Investigators are working to determine the identity of the baby’s mother.

Police have launched an investigation following the shocking discovery of a newborn baby inside the washroom of a tertiary institution hostel in Lautoka.

The infant was found in a sanitary bin by a student who heard cries coming from the washroom on the morning of Saturday, July 27.

Hostel staff assisted in retrieving the baby, who was immediately taken to the Lautoka Aspen Hospital. Authorities have confirmed the baby boy is in good health and remains under medical care.

Investigators are working to determine the identity of the baby’s mother.
