No Biology, Chemistry Teacher Fails to Deter Vaturaiyawa

Nakorotubu Secondary School student Meretinai Vaturaiyawa is certain that the Fiji National University (FNU) will be her preferred institution for tertiary education.
She wants to be a nurse.
"My concentration in the FNU Open Day was Food Science, observe the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Science," Ms Vaturaiyawa said.

"I'm eager to learn about the opportunities in the medical field."
The 16-year-old says there is a health centre at Namarai Village, Nakorotubu, Ra.
"There is no one from the Namarai or my village in Veidrala that works at that health centre," she said.
"It is my aim that one day that I'll be stationed at the health centre at Namarai as a nurse."
Ms Vaturaiyawa said she gained valuable infor mation at the FNU Open Day in Nasinu.
"I've chosen FNU as my future tertiary institution after the experience I've received today (Friday)," she said.
"Our school was established in 2020 and I enrolled in Year Nine in 2021."
Vaturaiyawa said there were no Biology and Chemistry teachers at their school for Term One and Two this year.
"We finally have a Biology and Chemistry teacher in Term Three but then there is no Home Economics teacher," she said.
"Our vice-principal usually issues out worksheets for us in the Home Economics classes."
