No charges yet in Savusavu fatal road accident
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wame Bautolu confirmed that a post-mortem examination has been conducted and investigations into the incident are continuing.

Police say no one has been charged at this stage following a fatal road accident near Nasue Settlement in Vunilagi, Savusavu, that claimed the life of a grandmother earlier this month.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wame Bautolu confirmed that a post-mortem examination has been conducted and investigations into the incident are continuing.
The victim, Selai Ragata, believed to be in her 60s, died from injuries sustained in the crash on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

Ms Ragata, from Buca Village in Vanua Levu, was travelling home from Savusavu with her children and grandchildren after replacing a lost bank card used for social welfare assistance.
According to Police, the vehicle she was travelling in veered onto the opposite lane and collided with an oncoming car that was travelling from Qaravutu towards Savusavu.
Ms Ragata and two children were rushed to Savusavu Hospital following the collision, where she was later pronounced dead.
She is survived by her husband, Pauliasi Qaqa, five children and 11 grandchildren.
Police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing as they continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash.
