Cutting off Facebook time at the beginning of this term was the best decision Alisi Soso made.

The Duavata Secondary School student in Macuata shared that the more time spent studying instead of being on social media contributed to her success in scooping the Dux Award. She is the second eldest of six children and the second in her family to receive the Dux Award.

The aspiring auditor scored the highest marks in English, Economics and Accounting, with a total of 343 out of 400 marks.

The 17-year-old of Lagi Village in Dogotuki received a trophy with one HP laptop donated by Ram Pyare & Sons as her prize.

“I gave up Facebook at the beginning of this term and spent more time in my studies. I made this sacrifice because I wanted to do better in my school work and make my parents proud,” she said.

Alisi plans to enrol at the University of the South Pacific to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Accounting and Management.
