The Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF) does not allow for voluntary membership after 54 years of age.
This was made clear after a resident, Mukesh Chand, asked this question during the FNPF public consultation in Labasa on Wednesday.
Mr Chand, a retiree, wanted to re-enter as a voluntary member.

FNPF general manager Member Services Alipate Waqairawai said re-entry as a voluntary member would not be possible.
“55 years is the entitlement age where members are allowed to make an option, of whether to make a full withdrawal, partial withdrawal, pension or drawdown product,” he said.
Mr Waqairawai said if a retiree was re-employed, then re-entry was compulsory for that member as a compulsory member.
“Only then after 55 years, you are allowed to enter the scheme only once,” he said.
Interests among participants during the consultation were high, but, employment after retirement would be accessed before becoming a compulsory member.
Mr Waqairawai said that membership would only be granted if members were employed after the 55-year-old age cap.
