No Plans Yet For Savusavu Lockdown

Plans for a lockdown for residents in Savusavu after COVID-19 cases escalated following the reopening of inter-island borders are on hold.
Patel Dayal from the Cakaudrove Provincial Administrator’s office said communities in Savusavu have upped their precautions because there is a widespread infection of the COVID-19 virus.
“Community leaders are also advised to monitor the strict movement of people in and out of the communities.

“Even though we have reached 80 per cent vaccination coverage there are no plans yet on lockdown.
“We have taken heed of advice from the Ministry of Health, for those who have the COVID-19 symptoms to get checked and isolate themselves for a few days.”
With the increase in cases in the Northern Division Mr Patel said every individual must take the responsibility of masking up and maintaining safe COVID-19 measures.
The Provincial Administrator’s office is working together with the Health Ministry to contain the spread of the virus in communities.
