No Police Report On Misuse Of Firecrackers

The Fiji Police Force is optimistic that Fijians will continue to abide by the permitted hours of lighting firecrackers.

Police Spokesperson, Ana Naisoro, confirmed they had not received complaints about breach of the use of firecrackers over the weekend and they were optimistic that everyone would continue to abide by the hours permitted for using firecrackers.

She said there were Police teams working throughout this Diwali long weekend and they had teams available on standby to assist if needed.

The Department of Mineral Resources has indicated that the permitted time of use of firecrackers is between 5pm to 10pm.

For today’s Diwali Public Holiday, the permitted hours of lighting firecrackers is from 5pm to midnight.
