Anyone committing to corrupt practices within the Fiji Sugar Corporation (FSC) will be taken to task.

This was the stern warning from Minister for Sugar Charan Jeath Singh.

He made the statement while making a number of allegations of corrupt practices within the FSC in recent years.

He also revealed a number of allegations levelled against former FSC CEO Abdul Khan.

This included allegations of multiple acts of financial malfeasance, breaches of income tax and exchange control acts, conflict of interests and abuse of office.

The minister revealed that the Government would seek to extradite Mr Khan for allegations levelled against him.

The Fiji Independent Commission against Corruption investigations on the case continue.

Mr Singh also revealed that staff from the Fiji Sugar Corporation had been fired for corrupt practices cases referred to police and FICAC.

He added the ministry was committed to transparency and integrity.

“There are other field officers and farm advisors who are not performing on the farm. They’re going out, demanding favours from the farmers,” Mr Singh said.

“Once those things come in black and white, I will reveal them. But I’m going to warn everybody—the farmers, farm advisors, the field office, and FSC workers—that if you are not there with a full heart to support the industry, just get out of it.”
