Some bus operators in Labasa have shown interest to extend its services late into the night to bring residents from nearby areas to town.
The opening of the Damodar City complex in Labasa has led to the possibility of night bus services with many entertainment and shopping services opening late at night.
Damodar Group chief executive officer Div Damodar said discussions between interested bus operators and the Land Transport Authority.

Mr Damodar did not want to reveal the bus operators’ names.
The two major bus operators in Labasa are Dalip Chand and Son Limited and Parmod Enterprises Limited.
Mr Damodar said the break-through was that a few of the Labasa operators have shown interest and were finalising the implementation process.
He said after hour’s public transportation service remains vital in ensuring that more customers enjoy their after hour services.

The wait would soon be over as bus operators are waiting for the green for them to operate.
Mr Damodar said their investment has become the catalyst of development where other service providers or businesses will continue to benefit.
Labasa Chamber of Commerce and Industries president, Vinesh Dayal, supported the opportunities following the opening of Damodar City.
Mr Dayal said this trend of night-life activities may be new to Labasa but it is set to create an environment of competitive commerce among businesses.
Adjacent road into Damodar city works underway
Mr Damodar said they are hopeful that upgrade works at the adjacent road leading into complex with be forthcoming.
The road at Naiyaca links customers to Damodar City complex and New World Supermarket.
Agencies engaged for upgrade works include Energy Fiji Limited, Fiji Roads Authority, Ministry of Local Government and Ministry of Waterways.
Work is expected to be completed by June this year.
Mr Damodar said this depended on the weather.
