Kelera Naduva will work on building confidence through her participation in the Vodafone Festival of the Friendly North so she can become a good teacher.

She knows the experience of participation will be a challenging one, especially when standing before large audiences to speak.

The 21-year-old is determined to give her best to improve her public speaking abilities when spreading the message on the subject she has chosen.

Ms Naduva is one of the nine queen contestants who will be competing in the eight days festival, which begins this Saturday at Subrail Park in Labasa.

The University of the South Pacific student, pursuing a Diploma in Early Childhood Education Care, is sponsored by Formscaff Pte Limited.

“As one of the future teachers of this great nation, I would be advocating on empowering youths through education and skills development,” Miss Naduva said.

“Now we have more school dropouts, especially from the villages and I believe it is because they are not managing their time well or have lack of knowledge in decision making.”

The second oldest of seven siblings from Naweni Village, Savusavu, wants to help school dropouts by letting them know that there is information available on ministry websites and vocational schools they could attend to build a career.
