Fiji Sugar Corporation (FSC) mill in Labasa is on track to crush 598,000 tonnes of cane for 2025 season.
Minister for Sugar Charan Jeath Singh confirmed this during his recent visit to Labasa.
Mr Singh said the Labasa mill had already crushed 526,000 tonnes of cane by November 3, placing the Northern Division in a strong position to achieve the forecast of 598,000 tonnes.

“This year we projected a close at approximately 598,000 tonnes,” Mr Singh said.
“This was a testament to the resilience of our growers.”
As the Labasa mill approaches its closing period, he said there were still about 50,000 tonnes of cane left to be harvested in the northern division.
He said the FSC mill had been crushing around 4,000 tonnes of cane per day.
“If all farmers put in the effort, the remaining canes could be cleared in the coming days.” he said
The Minister extended his gratitude to all stakeholders for their efforts throughout the season, acknowledging the crucial role they played in strengthening the northern sugar sector.
