The Great Council of Chiefs (GCC) says it has not received any official communication or invitation from His Majesty King Charles III or through diplomatic channels regarding a proposed meeting with the British Monarch.
GCC Chairman Ratu Viliame Seruvakula said the Council had taken note of Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka’s recent remarks suggesting that such a meeting could take place.
However, he said this information was new to the Council.

“As a matter of principle and protocol, the GCC accords the highest respect to formal diplomatic processes,” he said.
“Should a formal invitation be received through the proper channels, the Council will deliberate on the matter during its next scheduled meeting on the 25th and 26th of November 2025.”
He said this meeting would allow members to collectively consider the nature of the invitation and decide on the appropriate course of action.
The Chairman reaffirmed that the GCC remains committed to conducting its affairs with dignity, transparency, and respect for established procedures when dealing with matters of national and international importance.
