A Fiji Corrections Service officer, who allegedly leaked the photo of Sitiveni Qiliho and a short video of former Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama in the Suva Corrections Centre on social media last week has been disciplined.

The picture and video were uploaded on social media last Thursday after they were sentenced at the High Court in Suva by acting Chief Justice Salesi Temo.

This was confirmed by the outgoing Corrections Commissioner, Salote Panapasa yesterday.

“The disciplinary proceedings report will be submitted to me soon,” Ms Panapasa said.

When an officer is disciplined, it means that he or she is either reprimanded, suspended, on extra duties, loss of pay or terminated which is a last resort.

It is understood that corrections officers are bound by regulations and orders that protect and safeguard those who are incarcerated.
