OHS inspector charged over ferris wheel death in Suva

According to Police, efforts are ongoing to locate a second accused in the case.

A 34-year-old Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) inspector has been charged with one count of manslaughter arising from breach of duty in connection with the death of a 21-year-old woman who fell from a ferris wheel in Suva in June 2023.

The charge, filed under sections 240 and 241(5) of the Crimes Act, was endorsed by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

According to Police, efforts are ongoing to locate a second accused in the case.

The OHS inspector has been formally charged and is scheduled to appear before the Suva Magistrate Court today.
