There’s a clear indication from the opposition side of Parliament that members want Attorney-General (A-G) Siromi Turaga terminated from his position.

On Monday, Opposition MP Semi Koroilavesau called on Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka to remove Mr Turaga as A-G.

This is not the first time the Opposition has made such a call.

In previous debates in Parliament, the Opposition MPs have been vocal on the incompetencies and alleged scandals that Mr Turaga has been involved in.

“I want to remind the Attorney- General that instead of coming to Government and preaching in Parliament, practise what christianity teaches and what Jesus Christ had practised in life,” he said.

“This is the more reason the PM should remove Mr Turaga and put someone that can abide by the Constitution.”

Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica said that such call was “ridiculous”.

Mr Turaga was approached for an interview outside Parliament yesterday but declined to comment.
