There is no evidence of any impact from category 5 Tropical Cyclone Yasa on corals and reefs in the Northern division.

At least that’s the preliminary findings by Sangeeta Mangubhai, the Director of the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Fiji Country Programme.

In the past two days Ms Mangubhai and her team dived two sites popular with the dive industry in the Vatu-i- Ra Conservation Park (qoliqoli Cokovata Nakorotubu, Ra Province).

“They were just cruising along enjoying the calm waters.”

Ms Mangubhai and her team are grateful to Nai’a Cruises for making the visit possible.

As part of their relief efforts, supples were also delivered to families and groups in Savusavu who are helping those affected by the super cyclone.
