All passenger flights and inter-island ferry services outside of Viti Levu will cease from midday tomorrow (Thursday, April 22, 2021).

This was determined after the announcement of a new local transmission case in Wainitarawau Settlement, Cunningham by the Ministry of Health and Medical Services yesterday.

“From midday tomorrow, we are suspending outbound inter-island passenger travel from Viti Levu,” Permanent Secretary for Health,  Dr James Fong said.

“Passengers can travel to Viti Levu, but no one on Viti Levu can leave until these measures have expired,” he said.

However, he confirmed that only freight services will continue.

Dr Fong said travelling to Viti Levu was permitted however no one was allowed to travel out.

He added that the scenario of containing the virus throughout the maritime regions all at once should be avoided at all cost.

Dr Fong said all international flights into and out of Fiji for non-medical purposes are suspended.

"We need every available room in quarantine for Fijians in Fiji at this time," he said.
