Pacific Island youths had the opportunity to present their demands on decarbonisation, additional loss and damage commitment and accessible climate finance with Australian and Pacific Island leaders at the COP27 venue yesterday.
The Pacific civil society representatives also shared the Kioa Climate Emergency Declaration with the new Australian ambassador for climate change, Kristin Tilley.
The declaration demands urgent and decisive actions through greater action on mitigation, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to align to the 1.5°C temperature goal, and to ensure survival of small island communities.
