Panapasa Defies All Odds

Recruit Constable Ellen Panapasa Qaqa, 29, defied all odds after she scooped the Commissioner’s Book Prize/ Dux Award during the Fiji Police passing-out parade at the Police Academy Ground, Nasova, in Suva on Friday, December 15.

After two failed attempts, it was her constant prayer and fasting that brought Constable Qaqa the achievement she made.

Inspired by her mother Salote Panapasa’s journey from being a Corrections officer to now acting Commissioner of the Fiji Corrections Service, Constable Qaqa said she moulded her to become a better version of herself.

“I am proud of what my mom has achieved being a leader of a male dominant force and that has moulded my move forward and upward to try and go beyond what she has achieved,” she shared.

Constable Qaqa’s challenges drove her to strive for success.

Acting Commissioner, Panapasa said: “One of the things that contributed to her performance was discipline and this is something I’ve been nurturing my children with since they were young until their marriage.”
