Parents and students were in a jovial mood yesterday as they welcomed the reopening of schools for Early Childhood Education to Year 7 students.

Schools were closed in April 2021 due to the second wave of COVID-19.

Mosmi Bhim of Caubati was excited after dropping off her daughter who is in Year 4 at Nehru Primary School.

“My daughter is very excited because she is the only child so it was quite boring for her to stay at home,” Mrs Bhim said.

“She is really interested in learning. She was not enjoying classes from home so she is looking forward to interacting with her teachers, classmates and friends.”

Mrs Bhim feels that it was safe for her child to return to school as COVID cases are now decreasing.

“We found that when she was studying alone at home, it was quite challenging for her to answer questions on her own without the guidance of her school teacher.

Another parent, Roselia Veresa, shared the same sentiments.

Her two children are also students of Nehru Primary School.

“It is good that my children have returned to school so that they can continue with their studies well,” she said.

“They were excited to meet their teachers and friends again.

“I have told my children to be careful by always wearing a mask and washing their hands in school.”
