Parents have been cautioned by Police after officers discovered children waiting alone in cars while their parents were inside nightclubs and bars.

Divisional Police Commander West (DPC/W) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa issued a strong warning to parents and guardians, urging them to prioritise the well-being and safety of their children above all else.

SSP Vaisewa personally witnessed these concerning instances and labelled them as both selfish and dangerous.

He emphasised the need for responsible parenting and criticized the practice of leaving children unattended in potentially risky situations.

SSP Vaisewa warned that strict measures would be taken against parents and guardians who continue to neglect their responsibilities in this manner. The police are committed to safeguarding children and will not tolerate actions that put them at risk.

Before the children were handed back to the care of their parents, officers carefully scrutinised their ability to safely take their children back home.

SSP Vaisewa said that when it comes to children, emphasis should be placed on their safety and well-being at all times.

He said the first point of protection should be from home and parents, and the fact that this is happening was worrying.

SSP Vaisewa said they would come down hard on parents and guardians who condone such practices if the warnings are not taken seriously.
