Pareti is New Director for Information

Former journalist Samisoni Pareti is the new Director of Information, under the Office of the Prime Minister.
This was confirmed by a reliable source last night.
Mr Pareti replaces Izek Lal, who resigned sometime in June 2023. Mr Pareti is renowned for his contributions in Fiji and the Pacific region.

He also served as the People’s Alliance (PA) party media and communications officer on the transition team in the Office of the Prime Minister in 2023.
Commencing his career as a cadet journalist for the then Fiji Broadcasting Commission (FBC) on February 24, 1986, Mr Pareti has extensive experience across all three primary news mediums— radio, newspaper, and television.
He has also worked in magazines, internet-based news services, and engaged in correspondence work.

His professional journey includes stints at The Fiji Times, Communications Fiji Limited, Fiji Sun, PINA’s Pacnews service, Islands Business International, Mai Life magazine, and contractual work with Fiji Television Limited.
Mr Pareti has contributed as a stringer for ABC/Radio Australia, Associated Press, and AFP news agencies, covering significant events and issues in Fiji and the Pacific Islands.
In the past decade, Mr Pareti has diversified into media training, communication advisory, and public relations.
Mr Pareti has conducted training sessions for PINA and SPREP—the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme— focusing on business reporting, Pacific politics, and climate change.
