Many people think Easter is all about baskets of candy, fancy hats, bunnies, and eggs, but it is about who we celebrate on Easter and that is Jesus Christ.

Holy Hand Church senior pastor Dong-In Jang made this statement during the Easter celebration at University of the South Pacific Labasa campus yesterday.

“Why we celebrate and remember Jesus is because he died and rose again from the dead to save us from our sin,” Pastor Jang said.

“His crucifixion on the cross wasn’t beautiful at all but he gave up his life for mankind to have life and be free.

“He created you and longs to have a personal relationship with you.

You can know Him personally by receiving Him into your life.”

“Receiving Christ involves trusting Christ to come into your life to forgive your sins and make you what He wants you to be.

“Just to agree intellectually that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and He died on the cross for our sins is not enough.

“Nor is it enough to have an emotional experience.

“We receive Jesus by faith, as an act of your will.”

USP Student Association president Angylisha Asha said the campus

had more than 1000 students and they made sure to celebrate all religious events.

“Hence, we decided to have something for Easter giving opportunity to the students to perform their talent,” Miss Asha said.

“At the same time it is a learning, sharing experience for those who do not celebrate Easter and form a great understanding and appreciation of different religious beliefs.”
