The iTaukei Land Trust Board (TLTB) has is-sued a final reminder to 14,661 tenants with outstanding lease arrears, totaling a significant $16.7 million.

The Board has urged the ten-ants to settle their overdue payments as soon as possible to avoid potential legal action.

TLTB general manager Estate Services Isoa Tuwai yesterday emphasised the importance of addressing these arrears promptly. He said the board needed payments done on time to avoid delay in lease payments to landowners.

“We are committed to working with our tenants to find solutions, but it is crucial that arrears are cleared to avoid further legal actions,” Mr Tuwai said.

“Tenants, please a kind reminder on your obligatory duty to pay lease rental and administration fees in advance on the 1st day of January and July each year, as stipulated in the lease conditions,” he said.

“This helps avoid potential litigation and assists the Board in distributing lease monies to landowners in a timely manner.

“If your lease falls under any of the categories listed below, please visit our offices and speak with our arrears recovery teams. We accept part payments with conditions.

“Tenants are urged to seek financial assistance from respective commercial banks if they so wish, and for which TLTB has made some prior arrangements.

“We strongly urge all tenants to settle any outstanding payments promptly to avoid disappointments.”

He added that all enquiries were to be directed to the mobile number 990 8959.
