Picking and Choosing of Students Must Stop, Says Minister Kumar
"It is your duty to serve the children of your area first."

As school leaders you have to convince parents and students that no school is better than the other.
This was the statement by Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts, Premila Kumar, to the school heads of Andhra Sangam College and Sigatoka Methodist College yesterday.
Speaking during her official visit, Ms Kumar told the school heads that most of them only chose high achievers and boast about their schools' academic results.

“No child should be denied to study whether he or she is poor in academics," she said.
“You need to stop picking and choosing students coming to your school."
Ms Kumar urged the school heads to follow the zoning policy.
“What we have found out that some of these schools are overcrowded. We were not being able to balance students from each schools.
“We have to work out ways that we can filled each classrooms. So it is your duty to serve the children of your area first."
