Plan To Upgrade Road Will Ease Flooding: Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum

There is a plan in place to replicate the roading strategy of the west bank on to the east bank of the Sigatoka River.
This strategy surfaced during the Review of the National Budget Consultation 2021-2022 at Kavanagasau Sanatan Dharam Primary School in Nadroga on Sunday.
Attorney-General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum while responding to queries said the road was below the ground level.

Raising the road level will cost a lot so we must plan things out.
“On the west bank towards Keiyasi most of the road has been tar sealed."

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said permanent reinstatement of bridges costs $200,000 to $900,000.
“We identified about 400 crossings, bridges that need to be done."
The pandemic has kind of constrained us,” Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said.
“To provide permanent solutions, we make sure to do it in a strategic manner on a regular basis.”
