Plans Underway To Build Ba Water Retention Dam

Consultations are underway between the Ba Town Council and the Ministry of Waterways to build a water retention dam in Ba to stop flooding.
This was confirmed by the District Officer Ba, Elisha Joshua.
Mr Joshua said this was after the successful construction of similar infrastructure in Sigatoka and Nadi.

“When the Ba river gets flooded all the smaller rivers get affected as well because it’s all connected,” he said.
“The main cause of flooding in Ba is the drainage system, it’s not that good.
“This is why the Council is trying to work out a way to create a water retention dam in Ba. So, consultations are underway and I think in the next financial year it will be done.”
