Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has reminded the Acting Commissioner of Fiji Corrections Service (FCS), Sevuloni Naucukidi, of the limitations in his acting role.
Mr Rabuka met Acting Commissioner Naucukidi yesterday after the termination of FCS nurse Vakaloloma Nakarawa, wife of suspended Commissioner Jalesi Nakarawa, on Wednesday.
Ms Nakarawa’s appointment faced public scrutiny recently, with accusations of nepotism due to her husband’s position as Corrections Commissioner.

Meanwhile, Mr Nakarawa expressed serious concerns about his wife’s sudden termination this week despite being formally cleared by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC).
When questioned on the matter yesterday, Mr Rabuka acknowledged that he had been made aware of the issue.
“That’s why we told the Acting Commissioner about the limitations of his authority as Acting Commissioner,” Mr Rabuka said.
Since assuming office as Acting Commissioner, Mr Naucukidi has spoken to officers about the need to restore the image of FCS.
He also led a delegation with Minister for Justice Siromi Turaga to the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma, seeking an apology for the FCS decision to discontinue the church’s chaplaincy in the service.
This decision was made by the suspended commissioner late last year.
