Fifty-six days after the announcement by the Public Service Commission appointing Selina Kuruleca as Permanent Secretary Education, no substantial decision has been made on who will take up the post.

The Prime Minister and Minister for Civil Service, Sitiveni Rabuka, needs more time to make a decision.

Government, on May 31, announced Ms Kuruleca's appointment.

She was to take up office on July 3.

It has been 22 days since.

She signed her contract and is also being paid by the PSC.

Her appointment came under the spotlight after the Fiji Teachers Association and the Fiji Teachers Union raised concerns to the Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro questioning the process of her appointment.

Permanent Secretary of the Office of the Prime Minister Peter Wise said everyone needed to understand that a coalition government was in power and the Prime Minister needed to be objective with his decision.
