Honour to get recognition from PM: Principal

College principal Shabinah Ali said from Ba last night that “indeed its an honour because getting recognition from our Prime Minister is something great for us and to go to that international level at least being a finalist was also a privilege.

“They were so excited because the students knew it was lifetime opportunity and actually they are in contact with us through Facebook messenger and Viber and the teacher is always sharing videos and pictures,” she said. Teacher Rinal Prasad is their chaperone.

Ms Ali said the students were a bit disappointed because they were hoping for a win, but nevertheless they said they had learned a lot of new things.

PM sends condolences on Sultan’s passing

In another development, Mr Bainimarama said the community of nations had lost one of our great champions of peace with the passing of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said, the Sultan of Oman.

“The Sultan’s love for humankind was exemplified through his unrelenting commitment to a world free from violence and conflict. As a nation with an over 40-year commitment to UN Peacekeeping, the Fijian people share the Sultan’s life-long purpose of peace and pledge to uphold his legacy in the years to come,” he said.

“Oman’s journey of progress and modernisation over the past half-century is owed to the Sultan’s visionary leadership and unwavering dedication to the wellbeing of the Omani people. The global outpouring of grief at his passing is testament to his model leadership and the powerful bridges of friendship he extended across the world.

“As a strong and abiding friend to Oman, the prayers of the Fijian people are with the people of Oman as they bear this tremendous loss.”
