PM Rabuka Fires Minister Tabuya Over Viral Nude Video

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has officially dismissed Lynda Tabuya as Coalition Government’s Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection.

A statement issued by Mr Rabuka confirmed that Sashi Kiran will now be appointed as Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection.

The decision stems from the now widely reported nude video of Ms Tabuya which was leaked on Tuesday.

“She will remain as a Member of Parliament,” Mr Rabuka said.

“This is not a decision I have taken lightly, but one that is necessary in the best interest of the people that we serve.

“I have also taken the decision that Hon. Sashi Kiran be appointed as the Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection, effective from the date of her swearing – in as a substantive Minister, by His Excellency, the President.”

Mr Rabuka said in light of the recent events concerning the conduct of Ms Tabuya and in consideration of the Oath she has taken as a Minister; and standards expected of any Minister, make his decision valid

“I have decided to exercise the power conferred upon me by Section 92(3)(b) of the Constitution, to dismiss her as a Minister, with immediate effect,” Mr Rabuka said.
