Fiji stands ready to be the official home of the regional policing centres of excellence under the Pacific Policing Initiative (PPI).
The centres are expected to offer training, assistance, research, best practices, or leadership for a specific area in policing.
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka revealed this while delivering his keynote address during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2024 Pacific Policing Event at Sagafili Village, Samoa last week.

“Part and partial of the Pacific Policing Initiative is the establishment of the regional policing centres of excellence,” Mr Rabuka said.
“I’m happy that Fiji can put its hands forward and up, as host for one of these centres.
“We have the required facilities and supporting infrastructure in place, ready to support such regional initiative.”
The PPI objective is to unify policing arrangements across the Pacific, under the three PPI pillars of; (1) Regional Centres of Excellence, (2) a Deployable PPSG and (3) a Coordination Hub in Brisbane.
