PM Rabuka wishes Ratu Tevita well

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba Mara following his installation as Turaga Bale na Tui Nayau, Tui Lau, and Sau ni Vanua o Lau.
In a statement issued on Friday,
Mr Rabuka explained why he did not attend the historic ceremony in Tubou, Lakeba.

"I was invited as an ordinary person, not in my official capacity as Prime Minister," he said.
"As such, I chose to send my wife, Sulueti, who is a daughter of Lau, to represent us at this important traditional occasion."
Mr Rabuka said if he were the Minister for iTaukei Affairs, it would have been more appropriate for him to attend in an official capacity.
He also noted that preparations for next week's National Budget debate required his full attention.
"I extend my sincere well wishes to the Vanua o Lau and to the newly installed Turaga Bale na Tui Nayau, Tui Lau, Sau ni Vanua o Lau, Ratu Tevita, as he takes up this sacred mantle of leadership," Mr Rabuka said.
