Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has cleared the air on allegations of an extra-marital affair between two members of the People’s Coalition Cabinet circulating on social media.

Mr Rabuka, in a statement, said he had met with pair concerned and they had assured him that the allegations were false.

“I have had opportunity to meet with both ministers with regard to the scurrilous allegations being propagated on social media. Both Ministers have assured me that there is no truth in the allegations. I am satisfied with the response from both ministers and I have urged them to focus on their official duties to serve the nation,” Mr Rabuka said.

The PM emphasised the importance of the Cabinet’s Code of Conduct and urged the nation to focus on their duties rather than engaging in unproductive speculation on social media.

He also encouraged responsible use of social media platforms for positive communication and unity.

Mr Rabuka hopes this will put an end to the speculation and promote nation-building.

Meanwhile, the photos of Education minister and Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection, Lynda Tabua, were intially included in the post on the PM’s Facebook page, but were deleted 20 minutes later.
