Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka said on Friday he would be meeting former FijiFirst and Opposition MPs this weekend.

The 26 former FijiFirst MPs are without a party after the political party was recently de-registered by the Registrar of Political Parties, Ana Mataiciwa.

Mr Rabuka said Opposition MP Mosese Bulitavu made a ‘group’ audience request to meet him.

The meeting is scheduled this weekend.

The meeting underscores Opposition MPs’ political status and more particularly how they can serve their parliamentary duties.

“I’m meeting them this weekend. It’s just a group request from Mo (Mosese),” Mr Rabuka said.

Early this week, Mr Rabuka said he was open to options.

He also underlined Government’s commitment to the open discussion as a way to ‘work together’ on national issues.

“Bulitavu is my nephew, we’ve been communicating when we were together in SODELPA and it continues.”

Meanwhile, former FijiFirst Opposition Aliki Bia now an Independent MP is keen to support The People’s Alliance/National Federation Party and SODELPA led-Coalition Government.

The former journalist told this masthead on Friday that he was also open to any opportunity of responsibility offered by Mr Rabuka.

“I am open to any opportunity of responsibility offered by the Prime Minister” Mr Bia said.

“I’ve consulted with my family and my voters,” he said.

“If I am offered opportunities to help Government - govern the people of Fiji, I’ll be more than ready and willing to give my support.”

Mr Bia joins other Opposition MPs that include Penioni Ravunawa, Viliame Naupoto, Ketan Lal, Mosese Bulitavu and Semi Koroilavesau.
