PM: We Stand With Israel
PM Rabuka commends repatriation effort by Fiji Airways, condemns Hamas terrorist attacks.

Fiji stands with Israel in this time of crisis, says Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.
The PM said this while welcoming the repatriation flight carrying Fiji nationals from Israel at the Nadi International Airport on Thursday.
Fiji Airways successfully brought home 198 Fiji nationals, 13 agriculture students studying in Israel, and 48 Pacific and international pilgrims who were safely evacuated from Israel.

“With your safe return, I want to make clear our condemnation of the terrorist attack by Hamas, which targeted innocent non-combatants and resulted in the continuing loss of life,” Mr Rabuka said.
“We stand with Israel. Israel has the right to defend itself and its people. Together, we must unite in calling for all parties involved in the conflict to seek a peaceful resolution.
“De-escalation of the ongoing violence is necessary and we call for the protection of civilians as this conflict threatens the security of the region as a whole.
He said Fiji and regional neighbours continued to champion the Pacific as a “Zone of Peace”.
“I call upon the international community to join in the pursuit of diplomatic, non-violent solutions to conflict. I want to emphasise our unwavering commitment to exploring every possible diplomatic avenue to promote peace through dialogue and to ensure the safety of our fellow citizens worldwide in this time of uncertainty.
Mr Rabuka said he stood with Fijians to commend the valour, sacrifice, and tireless efforts of all who organised the daring, but well-planned and executed repatriation of fellow citizens and pilgrims, amidst the ongoing strife in Israel.
“I say well planned and executed because this was a Labour of Love!”
Meanwhile, Fiji Airways flew the Airbus A330-200 into the David Ben Gurion International Airport (under the protection of Israel’s ‘Iron Dome’) with a turnaround time of only two hours and whisked its passengers to safety.
He thanked the well-coordinated and targeted mission to rescue citizens and fellow pilgrims underscoring Government’s commitment to the well-being of Fiji nationals.
