PM yet to respond to concerns of RFMF chief

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has not received a letter from the Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai, in relation to the Commission of lnquiry report.

Mr Rabuka is aware through reports that the Commander had submitted a letter to the Minister for Defence, Pio Tikoduadua.

Mr Rabuka said Mr Tikoduadua and Ro Jone were part of the National Security and Defence Council, and the Commander would be acting on ensuring the nation's security.

Mr Tikoduadua confirmed receiving the letter on Tuesday.

In the correspondence, Major General Kalouniwai stressed the importance of upholding the 2013 Constitution and urged the Government to proceed with caution.

"The Commander's opinions are now on my desk," Mr Tikoduadua said.

"It's up to me to address the concerns he has raised.

"I have not made a decision yet, but I will in due time.

"Clearly, these matters remain of interest to the Commander."
