Police have confirmed that the mother of the newborn baby found abandoned in a hostel washroom in Lautoka earlier this week has been identified.
Investigators from the Lautoka Criminal Investigations Department (CID) are now awaiting medical clearance before they can proceed with interviewing the woman.
"The investigation remains active and ongoing," police said in a statement.
