Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu will meet with the Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF), Major General Jone Kalouniwai, next Monday to strengthen existing working arrangements between the two institutions.

Mr Tudravu confirmed the meeting during a press conference at Police Headquarters in Suva this morning.

“Cooperation between our two institutions is not new,” Mr Tudravu said.

He highlighted the need for a holistic approach to addressing the drug crisis in Fiji, adding that the police welcomed all support directed towards those efforts.

The RFMF has previously reaffirmed its support for the Fiji Police Force in its fight against drugs in the country.

Mr Tudravu said the military remains a secondary option in police operations, emphasising that law enforcement efforts are led by the police.
