Police Give Timely Advice To Students

Think of your parents’ support and concentrate on your education to improve your future.

This was the advice of Sergeant Vinay Kumar during the community Policing team’s visit to Dudley High School (DHS) on Friday 10th June 2022.

It is understood that students from DHS and Ratu Sukuna Memorial School (RSMS) were involved in an incident that almost resulted in a brawl at the Suva Bus Stand earlier last week.

“Students must go home as soon as they reach the Suva Bus Stand. By 4.30pm no student should be seen loitering around the area,” Sergeant Kumar said.

“We are working with the Suva City Council to ensure all students are not loitering around the city.

“Think of your parents.

“No one can change you, but it is you who is in control of your own life.” he said.

Police from now on will also search students’ bags if they are suspected of glue sniffing.

Chief Operations Officer (COO) Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Abdul Khan said that teachers are going to the extent of traveling with students after school in school buses to make sure students reach their respective destinations safely.

The presence of a senior teacher on a bus earlier this week prevented a brawl where someone would have been injured.
